#YesAllWomen because when someone writes threats about us online, Twitter says it is ‘not abuse’, not a warning sign, not even unusual

In college, we’d regularly find girls who had been roofie’d and left passed out in the parking lot next to our dorm. REGULARLY.

In college, a police officer told us to scream FIRE if we were in danger of being assaulted otherwise people won’t get involved

When I had a seizure in my home, the EMS guys asked my roommates if it was possible I was trying to get a boy’s attention.

Once again, are mugging victims or male assault victims asked what they were wearing during an attack? This is still a debate?

For every single time a guy put me down for being smart/funny/loud and called me “intimidating” instead of “awesome.”

#YesAllWomen  because there’s never been a debate over whether or not a man means No when he says it.

Necessary asterisk to #YesAllWomen: race, class, trans status, queerness—all these things are multipliers of these damaging experiences.

#YesAllWomen because apparently the clothes I wear is a more valid form of consent than the words I say

Because men’s reaction to hearing about the sexual harassment women face multiple times a day is “carry a weapon.”

#YesAllWomen because if a girl writes a song about heartbreak she’s ridiculed, when a man writes a song about rape it goes #1 on the charts

#YesAllWomen because even this hashtag is being infiltrated by men trying to invalidate women’s experiences

#YesAllWomen deserve to live free from threats of domestic violence & sexual assault. We must shine a bright light on such despicable crimes
